Current party leaders rejoice in “freedom of voter choice.”

COLUMBUS, Ohio– For the first time since the 2014 elections Ohio voters will be able to request a Libertarian ballot at the 2020 primary polls. This is a testament to the party’s growth here in Ohio as well as across the country.

Current committee executive chair, Harold Thomas, said he is looking forward to “giving Ohioans a real alternative to the toxic politics of the other two parties.” He also pointed out the growing need for regional leadership. “We also invite people of goodwill to run for our county and state Central committees, grow our party, and support our candidates next year,” Thomas added.

Patrick Glasgow, Director of the political division of the Libertarian Party of Ohio, also emphasized the significance of the change for the upcoming election period saying, “This is a great opportunity for the voters of Ohio- one that has been denied by the two old parties for far too long.”

Now recognized as a minor political party in Ohio, the Libertarian party will be working hard to recruit candidates for offices and leadership roles all over the state. People interested in joining the party, running for one of the open central committee positions or for office can visit LPO.org. There they can find local and statewide points of contact or send an inquiry via the site’s “contact us” option. The deadline for filing for the State Central Committee is 4:00 pm on December 18th.
