Libertarian Party of Ohio Special Convention

In Accordance with Article VII Section 2 of the Libertarian Party of Ohio Constitution, a special convention has been called by a petition of 50% of the seated Central Committee Members.
“WHEREAS, the Libertarian Party of Ohio is a Minor Party per ORC 3517 and would required 20% of the vote total during a Presidential or Gubernatorial election to become a Major Party.
AND WHEREAS, continued growth of the Libertarian Party of Ohio is stunted due to Article VI of the LPO Constitution requiring County Affiliates to be ORC Major Party Compliant.
AND WHEREAS, the the future of the Party is dependent upon the increase in the number and activity of County Affiliates.
AND WHEREAS, under the current rules the existing and future county affiliates spend more time and energy on paperwork and rules that aren’t required by law.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Central Committee, acting under the provisions of the Party Constitution, hereby calls for a SPECIAL CONVENTION to be arranged as soon as possible (likely to coincide with the next Central Committee Meeting) within the constraints of required notice, etc., the items of business being attached to this resolution”
