Ramaswamy Accepts Two Debates — Kissick Says: You Already Agreed to Debate Me on Video
Kissick calls on WLWT and CNN to include him after Ramaswamy accepts debate invitations
OHIO – Vivek Ramaswamy announced Wednesday that he has accepted invitations to gubernatorial debates from WLWT and CNN. Despite winning his party’s primary, Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Don Kissick was not contacted about participating in either debate.
There is already an outstanding debate challenge between the two candidates and Ramaswamy already accepted it.
On August 18, Kissick challenged Ramaswamy face-to-face to a debate at an Ohio Teamsters event. Video of the exchange was subsequently released publicly and to Ohio media.
“Vivek, you already said yes,” Kissick said Wednesday. “I’m ready. You’re ready. WLWT and CNN need to name the time and place.”
With Democratic nominee Amy Acton apparently declining to participate, Kissick says her absence should not prevent Ohio voters from seeing a gubernatorial debate.
“If Amy Acton chooses not to debate, that’s her decision, but it doesn’t prevent a debate.” Kissick said. “We are both the fully nominated candidates of our respective parties for governor, we are both willing to show up, and he has already accepted my challenge.” Kissick is calling on WLWT and CNN to invite him to participate.
“The networks have two candidates willing to debate,” Kissick said. “There is no reason Ohio voters shouldn’t get to hear that debate.”
Kissick said the question now rests with both the debate organizers and Ramaswamy.“I earned my place on the November ballot,” Kissick said. “Vivek looked me in the eye and agreed to debate me. Now there are two debate stages being offered. I deserve to be on them. ESPECIALLY if one of the other candidates declines.”
