Libertarian Party on Enough State Ballots to Hit 270 Electoral Votes

******FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE******

Libertarian Party on Enough State Ballots to Hit 270 Electoral Votes

8/11/20 Columbus, OH- Maine becomes 44th state to declare that the Libertarian Party has ballot access.

After Covid-19 halted or postponed ballot access petition drives, a majority of states have accepted petitions to allow Libertarian Party Presidential candidate Jo Jorgensen to appear on the ballot. This means Jorgensen has a viable path to 270.

Some states are awaiting signature turn in or are in current court battles with the Libertarian Party. They include Louisiana, Alabama, Virginia, Rhode Island, Minnesota and Tennessee. Jorgensen will appear on Ohio ballots and the ticket must receive at least 3% of the vote to maintain ballot access for future partisan races. With Green Party candidate Howie Hawkins unable to appear on Ohio ballots, the Libertarian Party of Ohio considers this a reachable goal

Dr. Jo Jorgensen is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Clemson University. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (Clemson, 2002) and has taught full-time since 2006. She graduated in 1979 from Baylor University with a B.S. in Psychology and in 1980 from Southern Methodist University with an MBA.
