Volunteer as an Election Observer for the May 5th Primary

The Libertarian Party of Ohio is recruiting volunteers to serve as official election observers for the May 5 primary election.

Election observers play a limited but critical role. Observers are appointed by political parties to watch the conduct of voting at early vote centers, Election Day precincts, and county boards of elections. The purpose is accountability and transparency, not participation in election administration.

The Libertarian Party of Ohio needs coverage across all 88 county boards of elections and as many precincts as possible. Past experience indicates that Libertarian ballots are not offered unless explicitly requested. Observers help document and report these issues through proper channels.

Key requirements and limitations:
โ€ข Observers must be qualified Ohio electors. Registration in the observing county is not required.
โ€ข Only one observer per appointing authority may be present at a precinct or early vote center.
โ€ข Candidates and uniformed officers may not serve.
โ€ข Observers must complete a notice and certificate of appointment and take the required oath.
โ€ข Observers may observe and move within permitted areas but may never handle election materials.
โ€ข Interaction with voters is prohibited.
โ€ข No campaigning, advocacy, enforcement, or disruption is permitted.
โ€ข No photography, video, audio recording, or phone use inside polling locations.
โ€ข Concerns must be reported outside the polling location to the county board of elections.

Election officials may remove observers who interfere with or disrupt the process. Professional conduct is mandatory at all times.

Training materials, appointment forms, and instructions are provided. This role requires attention, restraint, and respect for the process.

If you can commit a few hours on or before Election Day, your participation directly supports ballot access and equal treatment for Libertarian voters statewide.
