Strong communities do more than respond to emergencies. They build lasting networks of support, trust, and mutual responsibility.
Food banks, churches, local charities, mutual aid groups, neighborhood volunteers, and civic organizations across Ohio are doing more than filling a temporary gap. They are showing how real community care works when neighbors know one another, organize locally, and meet practical needs directly.

Your First Stop: Local Relief
The fastest, most effective support often comes from neighbors. Churches, food pantries, and grassroots coalitions see your need and respond the same day. These groups are not waiting for federal approvals. They are already delivering.

When Hard Times Happen, Community Responds
This guide is meant to help Ohioans find local food support now, while also encouraging a longer-term shift toward stronger community independence. Asking for help is not failure. It is participation in a local support network that exists because people choose to care for one another.
Anyone who needs help should use the resources available. Anyone who is able to help should consider volunteering, donating, organizing a collection, checking on neighbors, or sharing reliable information with others.
Government programs can change, pause, or disappear. Local relationships, local service, and local solidarity can be built to last. Communities become stronger when people step forward, help one another, and create support systems that remain in place long after the immediate crisis has passed.
